First Day Of Early Voting

JACKSON Tenn — 398 voters cast ballots today during the first day of early voting in Madison County.  As usual, early voting is being held at the Madison County Agricultural Auditorium at 311 North Parkway in Jackson.  Prior to today, 126 votes had been cast at the 11 assisted living facilities and nursing homes in the county.  The election commission had also received 51 absentee ballots before today.

A total of  575 total votes have been cast at this point.  In the 2010 November governor’s election, 975 ballots had been cast by the end of the first day of early voting.

Early voting will continue through October 30th.  Early voting hours are from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on weekdays and from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on Saturdays.  A photo ID issued by the State of Tennessee or the United States Government is required to vote in person.

Sample ballots may be viewed at madisonelections.com.  Offices to be voted are Governor, U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, District 8, State Senate District 27, State House of Representatives, Districts 73 and 80.  There is also municipals elections involved.  The City of Jackson is holding a referendum concerning the sale of wine in retail food stores.  The City of Medon is holding an election for its Mayor and 4 Alderman seats.  The City of Three Way is holding an election for Mayor and one Alderman’s seat
