Sentencing in Coach’s Murder

JACKSON, Tenn.  — Prosecutors say a Memphis man has been sentenced to 22 years in prison without parole for the fatal shooting of his stepfather, a high school basketball coach.

The Shelby County district attorney’s office says 21-year-old Dwayne Moore was sentenced Wednesday after pleading guilty in June to shooting 49-year-old Jimmy McClain.

The body of McClain, Moore’s stepfather, was found in his home in Cordova on Feb. 22, 2013.

McClain was an assistant basketball coach at Ridgeway High School.

Moore is the son of McClain’s estranged wife.
