THREE WAY, Tenn.—Madison County Sheriff John Mehr has confirmed with WNWS that at approximately 1:30p.m. on Friday afternoon, dispatch received a call of an officer involved in firing shots in off of Highway 45 South.
The shooting took place after Madison County Sheriff’s deputies approached two individuals parked in a car at 18 Three Lane, who were identified as individuals the deputies were seeking information from regarding an ongoing investigation. As the deputies approached the vehicle, the driver attempted to run over one of the officers.
One officer fired at the vehicle, which proceeded to cross four lanes of Highway 45 before running into a fence on the property of Quality Products.
The driver of the vehicle, 18 year-old Dillon C. McGee of Jackson is deceased. McGee had active warrants there were signed Friday morning for assault, domestic violence, aggravated robbery and false imprisonment. The vehicle’s passenger, 19 year-old Robert Aspiranti on Jackson, was uninjured.
Neither deputy was injured in the incident.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is involved in the ongoing investigation at the request of Madison County Sheriff John Mehr and the District Attorney General of the 26th Judicial District. The Tennessee Highway Patrol also had troopers on the scene to assist.
Officials have not released the name of the deputies involved in the shooting.
