JACKSON — A Jackson physician has been arrested in a suspicious incident that led to the University School of Jackson being placed on lockdown Monday morning,
According to a release from the Jackson Police Department, 51-year-old Omar Ahmad, of Jackson, is charged with disrupting an assembly.
According to police, Ahmad entered the school and asked to speak with the principal. After being told the principal was not available, Ahmad left the building. About 10 minutes later and called the school  said he was in the parking lot “thinking and writing,”.
Authorities tell WNWS, school officials examined Ahmad’s Facebook page and saw a post that read, “Remember, children, you are my combatants.”.
School Headmaster Stuart Hirstein said the school was placed on lockdown as a precaution.
Police tell us Ahmad had left the school by the time they arrived but he was found in his car on Sommersby Drive which is in the area of the school.
Ahmad was taken into custody and transported to the Madison County Jail. Ahmad will undergo a mental evaluation by order of Judge Blake Anderson
