JACKSON Tenn -- THP tells us a Tennessee state trooper assigned to the West Tennessee Drug Task Force arrested a man on drug charges in Haywood County on Wednesday morning, Around 8:30 Wednesday morning West Tennessee Drug Task Force Trooper Todd Yelverton made a traffic stop on a Nissan Altima on I-40 eastbound at mile marker 46 for following too close. The driver, 55-year-old Alberto Nava, of Shelbyville, Ky., was the lone occupant of vehicle. According to the trooper, Nava exhibited nervous and suspicious behavior. The trooper observed continuous questionable behavior from the driver and requested consent to search the vehicle . Nava said there were no illegal items in the vehicle and agreed to a search of the car. According to the release, the trooper searched the vehicle and found what appeared to be a 5-gallon bucket of white paint. He examined the contents of the bucket and further investigation revealed a large ball of duct tape that later was found to be 1.2 pounds of cocaine. The estimated street value of the cocaine is $15,000. Nava was taken into custody and charged with possession of a schedule II controlled substance with intent to manufacture, sale or distribute. He was taken to the Haywood County Jail.
