JACKSON Tenn — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating a complaint of sexual misconduct against a deputy with Haywood County Sheriff’s Department.
TBI confirmed to WNWS District Attorney General Garry Brown requested an investigation of a complaint of sexual misconduct against Lt. Terry Smith of the Haywood County Sheriff’s Department
TBI spokesperson, Susan Niland said “This is an active and ongoing investigation.” it is unknown when the investigation will be completed.
No charges have been filed. Smith has been placed on administrative leave with pay while the investigation is pending
Smith has been with the Sheriff’s Department since February 2003. During his employment he has held the positions of field training officer, lieutenant and investigator.
