JACKSON Tenn — On Thursday Jackson Police were called to Jackson State Community College after campus security detained a student with multiple weapons.
Police tell WNWS that 23-year-old Micah England was fully cooperative with campus security and with investigators.
According to court papers, on Thursday afternoon around 5:00 Shane Young, JSCC security, contacted Micah England and during the course of his interview learned that england had a two-way radio and was carrying a large knife on his side. through a further investigation Young determined England was also carrying three loaded automatic pistols.
When investigators interviewed England he told them he was concerned about possible violence or some other dangerous situation on the 9/11 anniversary. He told police he wanted to be prepared to defend himself and protect his fellow students.
Micah England was carrying two loaded .45 caliber Glock pistols and a Keltec 9 millimeter as well as a knife with a 12 inch blade and a two-way radio.
After interviewing England police were convinced he did not have plans to harm anyone at the college or carry out an assault. Investigator’s say England told them he knew it was illegal to bring the guns on campus.
Friday Micah England appeared in Jackson City Court on charges of Unlawful Weapons Possesion. The judge ordered England to have a mental evaluation. He has a $50,000 appearance bond.
Jackson State Community College has a zero tolerance policy for weapons on school property.
