The court found Friday that there were errors in the case, saying the lead prosecutor in the 2009 trial of Noura Jackson of Shelby County commented on her exercising her right to decline to testify. The court also said the prosecutor failed to give the defense a statement from a key witness.

Jackson was found guilty of stabbing Jennifer Jackson more than 50 times on June 5, 2005, in their home. She was convicted of second-degree murder.

Prosecutors said the daughter clashed with her mother over the teen’s drug use and partying and hoped to claim an inheritance.

Defense attorneys argued there was no forensic evidence linking Noura Jackson to the crime.
