NASHVILLE—Gov. Bill Haslam and Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bill Hagerty along with Pacific Industries officials today announced the automotive parts manufacturer will construct and operate a new manufacturing plant in Jackson. Plans include the creation of 190 new jobs over the initial five years of operations and a substantial investment in connection with the development and construction of the new facility, which will primarily manufacture metal-stamping products for the automotive industry.

“I want to thank Pacific Industries for choosing to locate their first manufacturing facility in the Southeast in Jackson, and I appreciate the high quality jobs they are creating in Madison County,” Haslam said. “Tennessee has a strong global presence in automotive manufacturing, further strengthened by this new investment, and today’s announcement supports our goal of becoming the No. 1 place in the Southeast for high quality jobs.”

“Tennessee is ranked the No. 1 state in the nation for automotive manufacturing strength. We’ve earned our top spot not only because of the major automotive manufacturers that call our state home, but also as a result of our robust automotive supplier network that supports this industry, allowing for continued expansion in our state,” Hagerty said. “I want to welcome Pacific Industries to Tennessee and I appreciate the valuable jobs their investment will create in Madison County. I look forward to their continued presence and further growth in Tennessee.”The planned Pacific facility in Jackson will be engaged in automotive metal stamping and welding operations. Groundbreaking on the new plant is planned for late summer of 2014, with completion of the new plant tentatively scheduled for late spring/early summer 2015. Operations and productions are slated to begin in late summer of 2015.

“Pacific’s choice further validates that Jackson, Tennessee is one of the premier locations in the country for Japanese owned automotive suppliers,” Jackson Mayor Jerry Gist said. “Our existing industry base grows even stronger today as we welcome Pacific Industries and its entire team to Jackson.”

“Teamwork and slowly building a close relationship with Pacific’s site selection team has enabled us to announce new jobs and capital investment for our community,” Madison County Mayor Jimmy Harris said. “Jackson is now home to seven Japanese companies who enjoy both the strong pro-business environment and exceptional cultural amenities.”

“TVA and Jackson Energy Authority congratulate Pacific on its decision to locate in Jackson,” TVA senior vice president of Economic Development John Bradley said. “Our partnership with the state of Tennessee, the Jackson Chamber, city of Jackson and Madison County officials helps companies like Pacific to invest and grow. The result is that the entire community ultimately benefits from the influx of new quality jobs.”

Pacific appreciates the support and cooperation they have received from the state of Tennessee, the city of Jackson, Madison County, the Jackson Chamber, the Jackson Energy Authority, and the Tennessee Valley Authority for making their investment in Tennessee possible.

The consolidated Pacific entities now employ over 3,000 people globally and have operations in Japan (including worldwide headquarters), United States, Taiwan, Korea, Thailand, Belgium, and China.

Some of Pacific’s global customers include Toyota Motor Corporation, Honda Motor Co., Nissan Motor Co., and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation to name a few.
