(July 28, 2014) Jackson TN – At approximately 1:26 p.m. Sunday, police were called about a shooting on the 2000 block of North Royal Street. Justin Williams, 20, of Jackson, was shot outside a residence. Williams was transported to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital and pronounced dead.

At approximately 5:07 p.m. Sunday, police were called about two people shot outside Parkway East Apartments at 33 Carver Avenue. Shomari Peterson, Jr., 17, and a 21-year-old man, both of Jackson, were struck. Peterson died from his injuries.

The 21-year-old man remains at Jackson General Hospital in stable condition. Police are not identifying the 21-year-old man for safety concerns.

Police are pursuing leads in an attempt to identify suspects in both shootings incidents.
