Multi-Jurisdictional Violent Crime and Gang Task Force Conducted Operations

(July 20, 2014) Jackson TN – The Multi-Jurisdictional Violent Crime and Gang Task Force conducted operations in the City of Jackson and Madison County on the night of July 18th into the early morning hours of July 19th, 2014.
Officers and Agents participating in the operations were from the Jackson Police Department; Madison County Sheriff’s Office; Henderson Police Department; Madison County Community Corrections; Jackson-Madison County Metro-Narcotics; Milan Police Department; Haywood County Sheriff’s Office; Humboldt Police Department; Lexington Police Department; Brownsville Police Department; Trenton Police Department; Alamo Police Department; Tennessee Department of Corrections; Tennessee Bureau of Investigation; 26th Judicial District District Attorney’s Office; and the 28th Judicial Drug Task Force.
The operation included saturation patrols in high crime areas where violent crime and / or gang activity have been taking place and included traffic stops, probation / parole compliance checks, and arrest warrant service. There were numerous “citizen contacts”, “knock and talks”, and “warrant checks” conducted also.
During the operation there were twenty (20) individuals arrested for various state and potential federal violations ranging from firearm and narcotics offenses, to Aggravated Robbery, to traffic offenses, and other misdemeanor charges.  There were two (2) misdemeanor citations issued in lieu of physical arrest.
There were four (4) firearms, one (1) meth-lab, one (1) vehicle, and various amounts of marijuana, methamphetamine, cocaine, and heroin seized throughout Jackson-Madison County.
The Multi-Jurisdictional Violent Crime and Gang Task Force is comprised of local, state, and federal agencies that are responsible for state and federal law enforcement in the 26th and 28th Judicial Districts and the Western District of Tennessee. The Task Force provides a vital communication conduit between multiple agencies and jurisdictions which enables these agencies to operate more effectively. Due to the combined efforts of multiple agencies working together, assets and manpower are increased in order to address violent crime and gang activity throughout West Tennessee.
The Multi-Jurisdictional Violent Crime and Gang Task Force began meeting, sharing intelligence, and combining resources / assets for saturations throughout the 26th and 28th Judicial Districts in 2012.
West Tennessee law enforcement agencies and Prosecutors are working together to combat violent crime and gang activity that has harmed our community and caused some of our citizens to live in fear of violence in their own neighborhoods.
These types of enforcement operations will continue to be conducted throughout West Tennessee, specifically in the 26th and 28th Judicial Districts, as the law enforcement community works together to provide peace, safety, and security to all West Tennesseans.
