JEA Works Quickly To Fix All Outages

(March 4, 2014) Jackson, Tenn.- Jackson Energy Authority has been working tirelessly since power outages began to affect their customers. Their first outage came from the McCellar Sipes Airport area.

The highest amount of customers out at any one time was 4,000. The system saw five outages in total where the breaker was open.

The types of trucks that were dispatched vary on the type of damage that was done and the area they need to access.

Some of the things that caused some of these outages and trouble for crews accessing those areas were downed trees, ice, limbs, and line outages.

In this instance, there were multiple times where the number of outages diminished drastically as more and more power was restored.

However, the fewer outages that remained, the longer it took to repair those outages. It was because of the damage that was caused and the repair method.

On Pipkin Road, where the largest outage was, crews isolated the area and restored power to the surrounding areas before moving in to fix the outage.

The outage in Pipkin Road was caused by four downed power line poles.
