Held at the Carl Grant Events Center at Union University in Jackson, the keynote speaker for the evening was commentator Steve Gill.
The dinner is a fundraiser that helps support the Madison County Republican Party and commemorates the presidency of Ronald Reagan. The fundraiser includes an annual auction that is sponsored by All American Classics.
Chairman Jay Bush spoke with us before the dinner and discussed the significance of this year’s dinner. He said, “This year is different because it is an election year here in Madison County and when you have a county election that draws a lot more interest from the community because our local candidates will be here campaigning.”
The night included remarks from Congressman Stephen Fincher and Mayor of Madison County, Jimmy Harris.
Mark Johnstone and Jimmy Wallace presented the Lifetime Achievement Award to Madison County Commissioner, Gary Deaton. Johnstone said, “He reflects conservative leadership, love of Christ, and believes in America.” Deaton was involved with “Operation Hope” for ten years at West Jackson Baptist Church, has given hundreds of Bibles to those who needed them, and been an active and positive contributor to the West Tennessee community.

Gill said, “The three main things we as Americans need to focus on to help America change its path for the better are to first return to God, second put principles before politics, and lastly, communicate better with what we as Republicans stand for.”
