JACKSON, TN: The Madison County Republican Party is pleased to announce that Steve Gill will give the keynote address at the Madison County Republican Party Reagan Day Dinner on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 6:00 PM at the Carl Grant Events Center on the campus of Union University. Steve is a conservative political commentator, attorney and former nationally syndicated talk radio host.
Madison County GOP Chairman Jay Bush stated: “We’re excited to welcome Steve Gill to Jackson for our annual Reagan Day Dinner. In addition to being a nationally known political commentator and former talk radio host, Steve was instrumental in defeating a state income tax in Tennessee, leading a grassroots band of ‘horn honkers’ in protests at the State Capitol. Steve went on to help Republicans build conservative majorities in the State House and State Senate, defeating most the incumbent legislators who had supported a state income tax. Today, in no small part thanks to Steve Gill, an income tax is off the table in the State of Tennessee.”
Steve has an undergraduate degree and law degree from the University of Tennessee and played for the 1977 SEC Champion basketball team. In 1992, Steve was appointed to a White House Fellowship by President George H.W. Bush and served as Director of Intergovernmental Affairs for the U.S. Trade Representative in the Executive Office of the President.
Steve is the former host of an influential Tennessee talk radio show. In 2000 and 2001 Steve was instrumental in leading an effective protest against a state income tax in Tennessee, culminating with a deluge of protesters circling the state capitol and honking their horns in protest of the proposed income tax.
Currently, Steve is the CEO and co-owner of Gill Media, Inc., a Nashville based media and marketing company that coaches companies, individuals and organizations in effective media and marketing strategies. Steve is also a practicing attorney and serves as a political analyst for WKRN News 2 (ABC) in Nashville. Steve has made appearances as a political commentator on Fox News, CNN, MSNBC and numerous other media outlets.
Other confirmed speakers for the 2014 Reagan Day Dinner include, Congressman Stephen Fincher, Mayor Jimmy Harris, Republican State Senate candidates Ed Jackson and Brandon Dodds, Republican candidate for Sheriff, John Mehr, and Republican candidate for Circuit Court Judge, Edward Martindale.
The February 8th Reagan Day Dinner is an annual fundraiser to support the Madison County Republican Party in its efforts to help elect Republican candidates to office in Madison County and West Tennessee.
