Convenient stores fined by Jackson Beer Board

Two convenient store owners were penalized for selling beer to minors and a permit to sell, store and serve beer on the premises was granted to Kanpai Sushi Bar and Fusion, during the Jackson Beer Board’s July meeting, Tuesday.

Zaid Alshaif, owner of Gold Line, 1819 Highway 45 Bypass, was fined $2,500 during the show cause hearing.

One of Alshaif’s employees sold beer to a minor working undercover.

The offense was the second for Gold Line, and if the penalty is not paid within 10 days, Gold Line’s license will be suspended.

Bowling Express, 26 Bowling Drive, was cited for its first offense, and owner Remon Rizk was ordered to pay a $1,500 fine.

Sandra Rodriguez was approved for a license for her restaurant – Kanpai Sushi Bar and Fushion, 2166 South Highland Avenue.
