August 6, 2013) Jackson TN – During a brief monthly City Council meeting Jackson City Council members approved funding for drainage repairs at the Generals Ballpark, authorized an agreement between the City and Area Relief Ministries and approved a grant for emergency generators
At Tuesday morning's meeting the council approved $190,000 budget for the repairs which include replacing surface and drainage. The money comes from recreational capital budget so it is not new money.
Jackson Mayor Jerry Gist told WNWS “The life of the drainage is about 15 years and we have gone 16 years so it was time to act" Gist added They have had to call off games that they should have been able to play.
Council also authorized a contract with Area Relief Ministries giving approval for ARM clients to maintain some of the city properties lawn care.
