The losing streak reached six in a row after the Jackson Generals lost both sends of Sunday’s doubleheader to the Tennessee Smokies.
The Generals (40-40 overall, 3-7 second half) look to salvage the final game of the six-game series Monday, after losing 5-4 and 9-3 at Smokies Stadium in Kodak.
Drew Muren’s wild pitch scored Tennessee’s Andrew Ely with the winning run with two outs in the seventh inning in game one.
The Generals tied the game 4-4 in the top of the seventh when Dawel Lugo hit a two-run single.
Tennessee jumped on Jackson starter Gabe Speier (2-5, 4.58) for four earned runs on three hits in the first inning of game one.
The Smokies put the game away with five runs in the bottom of the third inning.
Following Monday’s game at Tennessee, Jackson returns home to open a five-game series against the visiting Birmingham Barons, Tuesday at 6:05 p.m., at the Ballpark at Jackson.
