Former Bethel, South Gibson football star playing in Canadian Football League

Quincy Walden, a graduate of Bethel University, is attempting to make the roster of the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League.

Walden, who signed with the Riders in April, returned two kickoffs, one punt and one missed field goal in Saturday’s preseason game with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, which ended in a 25-25 tie.

Walden, who played high school football at South Gibson County, accounted for 143 return yards, with 87 coming on a missed field goal.

Walden spent four seasons at Bethel University (2013-2016) and played in 42 collegiate games.

He had 124 carries for 982 yards and 12 touchdowns, and added 102 receptions for 1,577 yards and 13 touchdowns.

He had 2,526 kickoff return yards and 798 punt return yards during his career with the Wildcats.

Saskatchewan visits Vancouver, Friday, for a game against the B.C. Lions.
