MADISON County, TN – This begins the second week that local blood supplies remain at dangerously low
levels. “Your community blood center, LIFELINE Blood Services, is continuing the critical appeal for blood donors and we want to remind you that patients are counting on us to work together to help them,” said John Miller, Chief Executive Officer, LIFELINE Blood Services.
Be a hero. Be a blood donor
According to blood center officials, only 5% of those who are eligible to give blood actually do so. That means that there are far more people who could give blood if they would make the choice to take that step and save a life. “If you have never given blood, we are asking you to be brave. Be a hero. Be a blood donor,” said Tonya Johnson, Director of Community Services at LIFELINE Blood Services. If you are healthy, age 17 or older and meet the blood donation requirements, then chances are very good that you could save a life by giving blood,” Johnson continued. LIFELINE is asking that all eligible blood donors and those who will be first-time donors to give blood this week. Special extended hours at the Blood Center, 183 Sterling Farms Drive.
