Beer Board issues two permits; show cause meeting set for June 15

Two requests for beer permits were issued when the Jackson Beer Board held its June meeting at the City Council chamber at City Hall, Tuesday.

The Board approved the consideration of a request from Randy S. Hall for a special occasion permit to sell, store and serve beer at an event known as the West Tennessee Truck and Tractor Pull, which will be held June 9-10 at the Jackson Fairgrounds Park.

The Board also approved the consideration of a request from Lexander Singh for a business known as the Casey Jones Mobil Mart, 1929 U.S. Highway 45 Bypass for selling, storing and distributing beer for consumption off the premises.

The Board will hold a show cause meeting at 9 a.m., June 15, at the City Council chamber for establishments cited for selling alcohol to minors.

Metro Narcotics conducted an underage alcohol operation May 22, and four businesses were cited, but will not be involved in the June 15 show cause meeting – but will be requested to respond to the sales at a later date.

They are Love’s Truck Stop, 2050 Highway 70 East; Food Mart, 1215 Whitehall Street; Indigo’s, 1625 East Chester Street and T-Mart, 1302 North Highland Avenue.
