South Gibson Hornets junior striker Rylee Hood has been named Jackson State Community College’s female ‘Athlete of the Week’ following her outstanding performance in the region and state tournaments. Hood recorded nine goals and four assists during that stretch, helping lead the Hornets to the state championship game.
“We had multiple goal scorers who helped lead this team, and it was great to be a part of that group. It feels great to see all our hard work from the offseason pay off. Winning this award makes all the early mornings and late afternoons worth it.” — Rylee Hood, South Gibson County High School
“Rylee has been a catalyst for us all season, and that really showed over the last two weeks of the season. She got us on the board in both state tournament matches, and that really propelled us forward.” — Coach Ellis, South Gibson County High School
