The Jackson Museum School (K-6) has opened its doors at its temporary campus at the New Life Christian Center, 726 Middleton Street.
Jackson Museum School, an innovative K–6 public charter school opened with Kindergarten through second grade – and will add one grade each year until full capacity.
The former home of the Jackson YMCA, 1515 Campbell Street becomes the new home of the school after renovations are complete.
According to its website – jacksonmuseumschool.org – born from a grassroots movement of community members, parents, and local businesses, the school reflects a shared belief that ALL families deserve high quality educational options rooted in museum-based learning and equity.
Jackson Museum School envisions a dynamic learning community that leverages the unique power of the museum to ignite curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking. It will empower ALL students to explore the world through authentic experiences, cultivate a passion for literacy, and become engaged, responsible global citizens prepared to shape a better future.
Built on the proven museum school model, JMS connects classroom learning with hands-on exploration through partnerships with museums, cultural institutions, and community spaces.
