Jackson Energy Authority receiving $700,000+ for infrastructure work at Airport Industrial Park
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Jackson Energy Authority is receiving $773,500 for sewer infrastructure at Airport Industrial Park.
Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee and Deputy Gov. and Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Stuart C. McWhorter announced Jackson as one 10 recipients of Site Development Grant (SDG) funding.
Ten grants, totaling more than $13 million, are designed to help communities invest in infrastructure and engineering improvements to land economic development projects and achieve Select Tennessee site certification.
“Our administration has made significant investments to strengthen the competitiveness of communities across Tennessee, specifically in our rural areas,” said Gov. Lee. “We appreciate the local leaders who are laying the groundwork for future economic development and positioning their communities to attract new investment and job creation.”
The SDG program is part of the Rural Economic Opportunity Act, which provides funding to improve the economies of Tennessee’s rural communities. Since 2016, TNECD has awarded 220 SDGs across the state, totaling over nearly $150 million in assistance to local communities and generating 8,471 new jobs for through projects that landed on sites improved through the program.
“Access to a shovel-ready site can be the deciding factor in whether a company chooses Tennessee or another state,” said Deputy Gov. and Commissioner McWhorter. “I applaud the communities receiving grants today for their commitment to preparing for future economic growth and investment through TNECD’s Site Development Grant program, and I look forward to seeing the impact these investments will have in their regions.”
Beer Board approves 1 special occasion, 1 business permit; fines 2 convenience stores for illegal sales
The Jackson Beer Board approved permits for special occasion and one business and fined two convenience stores for illegal sales during their monthly meeting at Jackson City Hall, Tuesday.
Sarah Smith, representing Friends of the Heart, was approved for a Special Occasion permit for an event at 91 Stonebridge Road, to sell, store, and serve on August 1, 2026.
Roderick Moseley was approved for a business known as 45 Bar & Grill II DBA Krab Kingz, 104 West Chester Street, for selling, storing, and serving on the premises where sold.

Valero, a convenience store at 309 North Highland Avenue, had its beer license suspended for 30 days, but if a $1,500 fine is paid within seven days by Stephanie Hudnall, the suspension will be lifted.
Royal Discount Store, 1099 North Royal Street, had its beer license suspended for 30 days, but if a $1,500 fine is paid within seven days by owner Salah Mohamed, the suspension will be lifted.
Preliminary site plan approved for Korban Cardiology in Thomsen Farms
Consideration of a preliminary site plan for Korban Cardiology, proposed to be located at 45 Exeter Road, in a Planned Unit Commercial Development District, submitted by Cortia Holdings, LLC, has been approved by the Jackson Regional Municipal Planning Commission.
The site plan calls for a three-story, 14,524 square-foot building located on 0.96 acres in Thomsen Farms.
Plans also call for 60 parking spaces.
