U.S. Marshals arrest Michigan murder fugitive in West Tennessee after falling through ceiling

Brownsville, TN – On May 4, 2026, U.S. Marshals arrested an out of state murder fugitive after he fell through the ceiling of a Brownsville, Tennessee residence.

Darqareion Mills, 29, was wanted in Kalamazoo, Michigan, for Second Degree Murder. On March 25, 2026, the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety responded to a call of a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle resulting in the death of a 51-year-old man.

Following an investigation by Kalamazoo authorities, on March 29th, an arrest warrant was issued for Darqareion Mills.

U.S. Marshals in the Western District of Michigan began searching for Mills and developed information that he had fled to West Tennessee.

Acting on a lead, the Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force in Jackson tracked Mills to residence in the 800 block of Gay Street in Brownsville. With the assistance of a K-9, Deputy marshals and Task Force Officers determined that Mills was hiding in the attic space of a home.

After Mills refused to comply with commands to surrender, he attempted to evade and fell through the ceiling onto the floor. After he was cleared by medical personnel, Mills was booked at the Haywood County Jail pending extradition back to Michigan.
