Straight-line winds took out multiple utility poles, downed lines and put debris in lines leaving 5,000 JEA electric customers without power starting around 1:15 a.m. today.
Crews were called in and damage assessment initiated to clarify system damage and begin power restoration.
Early morning hours of line clearance and communication with System Control resulted in a series of steps to reroute power and restore customer electric service. Between 5:00 and 6:00 a.m. power to thousands of customers was restored.
There remains about 400 customers for whom power will be restored as downed poles and lines are repaired, reset or replaced during the day.
The JEA Outage Map will reflect progress made toward full power restoration. (See Outage Map at www.jaxenergy.com)
