Buc-ee’s Construction Update, Set to Open in May 2027
The Texas-based chain, famous for its massive stores, clean restrooms, and signature snacks like Beaver Nuggets, is constructing a 74,000-square-foot location in West TN. The third Buc-ee’s in Tennessee, but the first in the western part of the state.
A groundbreaking ceremony took place in November 2024, with Fayette County providing a $15 million loan to help move the project forward.
Originally planned for a summer 2026 opening, the timeline has shifted to May 2027 due to related road construction and other factors. Once complete, the travel center is expected to create around 225 jobs, with starting wages reportedly in the $17–19 per hour range plus benefits.
It will not accommodate semi-trucks.
The project is a major economic boost for Fayette County and the broader Mid-South region, drawing travelers, tourists, and shoppers to the area.
Buc-ee’s fans in West Tennessee have eagerly awaited the “Disney World of convenience stores,” and many are watching the site’s progress closely.
Construction continues on the project, with more visible development expected in the coming months.
