Panola County Double Homicide: Father and Daughter Reportedly Killed En Route to Marketplace Video Game Deal
Panola County, Miss. — Authorities are investigating a double homicide after a father and daughter from Memphis were found shot to death inside a crashed vehicle on Sunday morning.
Around 7 a.m. March 1, deputies responded to a reported single-vehicle crash on River Road near Sardis. Inside the vehicle, they discovered 39-year-old Victor Gonzalez and his 19-year-old daughter, Serenity Gonzalez, both deceased from gunshot wounds.
The Panola County Sheriff’s Office believes the shootings occurred sometime between Saturday, Feb. 28, and early Sunday. No arrests have been made, and no motive has been confirmed.
Family members say the pair was traveling to meet someone about a PlayStation 5 listed on Facebook Marketplace. Relatives noted tire marks suggesting the vehicle may have tried to flee, though police have not confirmed this.
Sheriff Shane Phelps has spoken with the family but released few details. River Road is described as a quiet, low-traffic rural area.
