Homicide suspected after body found in crawl space under Raintree Cove residence; JPD investigating

[Jackson, TN] The Jackson Police Department has launched a homicide investigation following the discovery of a body in a crawl space underneath the residence on Raintree Cove in North Jackson.

 

Officers initially took a report of Mirna Ortez Moncada’s disappearance on February 16, 2026 and members of the Special Victims Unit have been actively investigating the missing person report.

 

Officers responded to Raintree Cove on Saturday, February 21, 2026 after being contacted by family members of 31-year-old, Mirna Ortez Moncada.

 

The residence where the discovery was made belongs to an acquaintance of Ms. Moncada.

 

Although family members have tentatively identified the body as Ms. Moncada, official confirmation is still pending. The remains have been transported to Nashville for a forensic autopsy to confirm the individual’s identity and determine the exact cause of death.

 

This remains an active and ongoing investigation. Investigators are currently treating the case as a suspected homicide. To protect the integrity of the investigation, no additional details regarding the condition of the scene or potential suspects are being released at this time.
