The Lady Vols softball team is ranked #4 in the Nation and off to a hot start including a no hitter by Erin Nuwer.

Tennessee started the season off playing in the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Clearwater, Fl. The Lady Vols started off hot, with a no hitter and opening win over BYU 10-0 in game 1 on Feb. 5th.

Friday, the Lady Vols faced the #21 Liberty Flames and came away with a 6-1 victory. Later that night Tennessee took care of Rutgers in five innings 9-1.

Saturday was no different for the Lady Vols, the day started with a 6-0 win over Boston College followed by a 2-0 victory over #5 Oregon to end the day.

Hitting:
The bats for the Lady Vols are a big part of this hot start.
Sophia Knight went 7-16 from the plate, including 3 walks, 2 doubles, 1 rbi, and scored 5 times.
Taelyn Holley went 4-10 from the plate, including 3 walks, 1 hr, 1rbi, and scored 4 times.
Ella Dodge went 4-12 from the plate, including 4 walks, 2 doubles, 1 hr, 4 rbi, and scored 3 times.
Elsa Morrison went 3-10 from the plate, including 3 walks, 1 double, 1 hr, 6 rbi, and scored 3 times.
Gabby Leach went 3-10 from the plate, including 4 walks, 2 doubles, 1 hr, 3 rbi, and scored 7 times.
Makenzie Butt and Emma Clarke also had homeruns in the classic.

Pitching:
The pitching was equally as hot, allowing 12 hits and one earned run in 31 innings. Team era 0.23 after week one.
Karlyn Pickens was 2-0 in 2 starts in 14 innings pitched, with 22 strikeouts, 7 walks, and 1 earned run.
Erin Nuwer was 2-0 in 3 appearances, 11 strikeouts, 2 walks, and 0 runs allowed.
Sage Mardjetko was 1-0 in her only appearance, 9 strikeouts and 0 runs allowed.
Maddie Rutan pitched 2.1 innings, 1 earned run on 3 hits allowed.
