Talking Business– Behind the Budget
Where business leaders share their who, what, when, where and why. We want to go behind
the budget and find out what has made you successful.
Our number one goal is to give business leaders a free, one hour time slot to talk about
themselves and their business. No strings attached. You have accomplished a lot already or you
would not be on the show, now tell the people about it.
Our second goal is to leave the audience with a lesson or two on starting or running a business,
the struggles and successes, personal antidotes or “dos and don’ts,” etc.
Please review the questions below to prepare for your conversation. No written responses
needed—just take a few minutes to think about your answers.
Part 1 – Your Story
• Who are you, and what inspired you to start (or join) your business?
• When and how did your business begin?
• What specifically does your company do? What specifically do you do?
• What’s been your proudest moment so far?
• What have you learned the hard way?
Part 2 – Your Community
• What do you see as your community’s biggest strengths for business owners?
• What challenges hold your area back from growth?
• If you could ask local leaders to do three specific things to help businesses like yours, what
would they be?
• Who are some other local businesses or people making a difference?
Part 3 – The Bigger Picture
• What local, state, or national issues are affecting your business right now?
• How do you see policy or politics shaping the future for small business owners
• What advice would you give someone trying to start a business today? We want to give the
folks a statement or a saying as a takeaway.
