Christopher Phillips Sr. Announces Candidacy for Madison County Commission, District 6

Madison County, TN — Christopher Phillips Sr. has formally announced his candidacy for Madison County Commission, District 6, emphasizing service, accountability, and a deep commitment to the people of Madison County.

“I am humbled to announce my candidacy for Madison County Commission, District 6,” Phillips said. “This community raised me, shaped me, and supported me throughout my life. It would be an honor to give back through dedicated public service.”

Phillips is a lifelong, multi-generational resident of Madison County, raised in the Malesus community. He attended J.B. Young, West Middle School, and graduated from South Side High School before joining the United States Navy. He served as a Navy Cryptologic Technician during Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom, experiences that instilled discipline, responsibility, and a deep understanding of service before self.

Phillips married his high-school sweetheart, Melissa Richie Phillips, and together they have raised their two sons, Chris Jr. and Pierce. For more than two decades, he has owned and operated small businesses in Madison County. Outside of work, he has spent his life coaching youth baseball, supporting his sons in baseball, golf, and football, and enjoying his time outdoors hunting, fishing, trail riding, and working on the family farm. His passion for family genealogy and local history has strengthened his appreciation for the generations who built Madison County into what it is today.

“My life has been guided by the belief that we should do for others quietly and sincerely, not for recognition,” Phillips said. “Matthew 6:1 reminds me that true service is humble service. Integrity, loyalty, and long-term investment in our community are the values I carry with me.”

These values form the foundation of Phillips’ approach to county government. He advocates for small, efficient government, minimal regulation, and low taxes, believing that public resources must be managed responsibly and transparently. Phillips prioritizes investments in the people and services that make Madison County strong—first responders, youth, senior citizens, residents with disabilities, and essential infrastructure.

“I am running because every person in District 6 deserves a voice that is heard and respected,” Phillips said. “This campaign is not about me—it is about you. Your concerns and ideas matter, and they deserve to be brought forward with honesty and commitment. I will listen. I will be accessible. And I will work hard to ensure you have the support, answers, and resources you need from county government.”

Phillips emphasized that stewardship of taxpayer dollars and representation for every part of District 6 will remain his top priorities.

“It would be an honor to serve as your commissioner,” Phillips said. “I encourage residents to reach out with questions, concerns, and ideas. The more I hear from you, the better we can meet the real needs of Madison County—together.”
