WAVERLY, TN – Joshua R. Phariss was arrested and charged with Assault, Disorderly Conduct, Burglary, and Resisting Arrest following a fight that broke out during the Humphreys County Christmas Parade on December 6, 2025.
According to court affidavits, Phariss allegedly climbed into the bed of a parade float truck, shoved a small teenager, and then shoved and grabbed the person dressed as “Santa.” He then engaged in a physical altercation with another man, on the roadway while the parade was in progress, causing a public alarm.
The truck owner also pressed charges for burglary due to Phariss unlawfully entering the vehicle. Phariss was later charged with resisting arrest after refusing to comply with officers.

What is wrong with people? If you don’t want to participate in local festivities, and act like you have some sense, stay home! Why ruin things for the kids and families that have nothing to do with your issues. Some kids already live with violence, they should be safe at a hometown parade! SMH
