NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – State officials say three children in Tennessee have died of complications from the flu over the last month.
The Tennessee Department of Health says six children total have died from the flu this year.
Although experts in Tennessee say the virus hasn’t reached the point of an outbreak yet, it is widespread and people should take precautions.
Dr. Don Arnold, a pediatric emergency room doctor at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, says there have been “hundreds and hundreds of cases of influenza in children this season.”
Doctors recommend washing hands and not touching eyes, hands and nose after interacting with those who may be sick.
