3 arrested after shooting fireworks at Jackson Police Officers

From the Jackson Police Department

We would like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to the City of Jackson, TN citizens for embracing the Fireworks Ordinance and celebrating the 4th of July with utmost responsibility.

We also extend our appreciation to our City of Jackson, TN – Police Department officers who worked selflessly throughout the night, demonstrating dedication to public safety and serving this community.

Despite facing an influx of calls and some extremely challenging circumstances, including individuals ignoring the ordinance times, launching roman candles at officers, and even allowing children to shoot fireworks directly at our officers, our officers remained steadfast in their commitment to serve this community.

Throughout the night, resources were pulled from all districts at times to support foot patrols in areas with high call volumes and issues, showcasing the department’s adaptability and teamwork. Officers managed to maintain their composure, exercise restraint, and uphold their integrity while interacting with a few individuals who disregarded safety protocols for both children and adults, showing the true spirit of public service.

We are deeply grateful for the commitment and bravery of our officers during a time that should have been celebratory for everyone, and we salute their selfless service. Thank you for your dedication to duty and for protecting the city during the 4th of July Holiday. JPD officers, we value your commitment to duty and celebrate your dedicated service.”

As a reminder we encourage everyone to enjoy this festive time responsibly. Violations of the firework ordinance will result in citations and possible arrest if an assault occurs against our officers.

Unfortunately, officers took three people into custody, two juveniles and one adult on last night.

  1. We don’t need this NEXT year. No more Fireworks because I heard them at 1am .. who could sleep?
Thank you for taking my comment.

Nothing new. Fireworks all week through Sunday night ’till 2 AM. Very little enforcement. Why the City and Country decided to endorse more fireworks is beyond me. And, please help me understand who the Genius is who proposed and decided to allow them to 12:30 AM. Please ask the decision makers how and why they came up with that time. It is not New Year’s Day celebration.
