BARTLETT, Tenn. (AP) — Officials say two people have died after their vehicle was involved in a crash with a Bartlett police squad car.

According to The Commercial Appeal ( ), the car carrying the two victims crashed with the police vehicle on Sunday afternoon in Bartlett, a Memphis suburb.

Officials said the police officer suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment and released.

The accident is under investigation.

Assistant police chief Glen Williamson says that while the officer not on a call, “he was responding to another officer’s acknowledgment of trying to stop a violator.”
