2 Memphis men charged in connection with Monday afternoon East Jackson shooting

From the Jackson Police Department

[Jackson, TN] – On Monday April 6th, 2026, at approximately 5:24 pm Central Dispatch received an alert on the ShotSpotter system indicating twenty-five rounds fired in the area of 132 Lincoln Circle.

As 911 calls reporting gunfire began coming in, dispatchers immediately monitored the police cameras in the area. Dispatchers noticed two men running from behind a building in the area and entering a black Ford Expedition which sped away.

Responding officers received this information and were able to stop the vehicle leaving the area. Officers located two firearms in the vehicle, one had been equipped with a “Switch” which is an illegal modificaiton allowing the weapon to fire fully automatic. Investigators from the Major Crimes Division detained and later interviewed the vehicle’s occupants.

Evidence at the scene matched the recovered firearms. Several vehicles and a building were struck by the gunfire; fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Deangelo Brown age 22 and Dewonta Rodgers age 21, both from Memphis, TN, have been formally charged with Felony Reckless Endangerment in connection with the shooting. Brown was also charged with Possession of a Prohibited Weapon. Both men will be arraigned Thursday morning in Jackson City Court.

The seamless coordination between our Dispatch team and the Patrol Division resulted in the immediate apprehension of two dangerous persons and the removal of two illegal firearms from our community.
