The Jackson Police Department made two arrests – separate – after shots were fired near Waffle House, 24 Casey Jones Lane and Whitehall Street, Sunday.
Aleriq Smith was identified as a suspect in the shooting near the Waffle House about 3:30 a.m., Sunday.
Smith was taken into custody and charged with reckless endangerment and possession of a firearm during a dangerous felony.
About seven hours later, Johnathan Douglas, who was hit by gun fire, was arrested after he was searched by officers who found a .40-caliber Smith and Wesson magazine with 14 live rounds in his jacket pocket.
Douglas was taken to the Madison County Criminal Justice Complex and charged with reckless endangerment and unlawful carrying of a weapon.
Both Smith and Douglas have a $40,000 bond.
