The Jackson Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred near the intersection of Grove Avenue and Susan Cove.

On Sept. 19, 2024, at approximately 8 p.m., officers responded to this area and found Ryan Mills, a 41-year-old man, suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds.

The victim was transported to a local hospital by the Emergency Medical Services where he succumbed to his injuries.

A male subject fled the area and was found in a nearby wooded area with a single self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital by the Emergency Medical Services and is in stable condition.

The male subject is currently in custody.

The Jackson Police Department is not searching for any other subjects at this time.
