JACKSON, Tenn. – Monday afternoon in Circuit Court the man accused of killing his wife entered a plea of guilty on one count of reckless homicide. The plea deal was recommended by the state. John Christie is charged with second degree murder in the death of his wife.
If the judge had accepted the state’s recommendation of the plea John Christie would have received a 10 year sentence but with time served would only serve 18 months incarcerated plus probation.
In December of 2013 Brittany Christie was found dead inside a room at Jackson hotel. Investigators determined she died of a drug overdose.
Christie’s next court appearance is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Sept. 8. If the court does not accept Christie’s plea agreement at that hearing, the case will go to trial.
