Members of the Jackson City Council approved the First Reading of a consideration of a Proposed Budget Ordinance for fiscal year 2023, during a special called meeting at City Hall, Tuesday.
The council approved the annual budget for fiscal year 2023, which is $83.7 million, but a few details remain.
“We’re still waiting from the state to know to certify our tax rate (1.9619) and that will come later, so we’re going ahead and approving the budget and coming back later to make any changes we need to,” said Ross Priddy, District 5 City Councilman, “But a good first step … still nailing down a few things, but we’ll potentially approve that on the Second Reading before the end of June.”
Additional highlights include –
FY 2021, $8 million surplus
FY 2022, the forecasted surplus is about $9 million
FY 2023 budget, is break-even
