In less than one week, a second industy in Jackson, has announced it is expanding.
Officials with Bobrick Mid-Continent said the company will add 40,000-square-feet to its existing facility at 100 Bobrick Drive in Jackson-Madison County Industrial Park.
The expansion will make room for high volume accessory products as well as its three brands of toilet partitions – Bobrick, Privada and Thrislington.
“Our decision to deepen our roots at Bobrick Mid-Continent is a reflection of our success in Jackson and Madison County,” said Matthew Louchheim, vice president corporate development, general manager, Toilet Partition Group, “We would not be here today – 30 years after our initial decision to set-up operations in the Jackson area – without everyone’s dedication and encouragement.”
Construction began on the 100,000-square-foot building Bobrick now calls home in 1999, having relocated from a facility the company leased directly behind its existing facility.
“More recently, over the past eight years, Bobrick sales and profitability have grown as we have launched new products, spent millions on machinery and equipment, and supported the training of our talented and driven workforce,” Louchheim said, “Unfortunately, our growth cannot continue at its current pace on the same physical footprint – to increase sales and expand our team, we must also build.”
Louchheim said the cost of the expansion is $6 million.
The expansion will increase the number of people on the payroll from 123 to 148.
“Bobrick is just another example of companies investing in Jackson, and continuing to invest because the workforce here is fantastic, and as they grow, companies like Bobrick grow,” said Kyle Spurgeon, Jackson Chamber president/CEO, “They have opportunities to invest in other parts of the country, but you see them continuing to choose here because of workforce, location and one of the most important things that often gets overlooked are relationships that we’ve built through the Chamber, Jackson Energy Authority, City, County, state, TVA, all those folks working together to build relationships, because you do business with people you know, like and trust and that’s why you see us spending so much time with the corporate leadership of companies like Bobrick.”
On March 14, Toyota Bodine announced a $50.1 million investment to expand its existing facility at 301 James Lawrence Road an additional 65,000-square-feet.
